The 53rd chapter of Isaiah is very much loved amongst bible believing Christians. The chapter itself gives us just a glimpse into the suffering saviour, the Lord Jesus and the cost of our redemption. I am proud to declare tonight that Jesus Christ is the saviour of sinners, he came to seek and to save the lost. The cost of our redemption was what? His life. Calvary, the death of Jesus was and indeed is necessary to reconcile sinners to God. All of us by nature are in the eyes of God wretched and rebellous sinners, sinners that delight in rebelling against God and his laws.
How is mankind portrayed in Isaiah? Well we are described as transgressors (hence lawbreakers, felons). We have taken God's laws and broken them deliberately. Then the word iniquity is applied to mankind. What does that mean? Well the word iniquity tells us that we have a disposition towards sin, a bentness. Now all of this is worrying because our great God in heaven demands perfection and is angry against sin and the sinners that commit such heinous crimes against him. Every sin we commit is in fact an attack against God's person. We are all destined for an eternity of wrath and judgement.
But the Lord on Calvary achieves peace for all those that will trust in King Jesus. Isaiah 53 tells us that the chastisement for our peace was laid upon Christ Jesus. It tells us that by his stripes we can be healed. The Lord indeed laid upon his only begotten Son the iniquity of us all.
Through Jesus Christ alone, through only trusting in his merits and work alone can our sin be dealt with. I cannot be made right with God through my own efforts, only via the saving work of Christ.
A number of folk on this site can rejoice in Christ and take pleasure in knowing what it is to be spared from a lost eternity. Let us dear Christians always be thankful for the mercy that God has bestowed and continues to bestow upon us in Christ. For those out there that do not know the Saviour then I urge you to ponder upon the person of Christ, his life and saving work. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and only through him can we be made one with God the Father.

Thank you Jonah, that is what I have hoped for since the day you said you had a sermon to prepare and I ask if you were a minister. Since then I have hoped to have the privilege of hearing your thoughts. I have been blessed by this post and it goes along with our sermon today. Both have made me think about my faith and how much the Lord means to me, I feel so humbled by my salvation, so blessed to know my Saviour.
Yes here we are all Christians and we can share that faith and support each other. It is such a blessing to have a place like this to be able to do that.
I do sincerely hope you will continue to share with us Jonah, I am going to print your post and share it with others, I will send a copy home with my daughter.

Isn't it wonderful? To be able to share faith. Speaking of that. I meant to tell you Les. I meant an older lady the other day in a nail salon(I was getting my nails done for the choir thing, per the encouragment of my choir director). And she reminded me so much of you. She was sweet, and when we were told her that we went to a private Christian school, her eyes lit up and we began sharing our faith and talking. She gave us so much and encouragement, telling us how proud she was to be able to see young girls like us so sweet and caring and sharing our faith. She was such a nice laady, and after a few moments you came to mind. She was so much like you. Encouraging, kind, caring, and sweet. And very outgoing.
Oh, and thoughts of the week would be wonderful!! It'd be nice to have more topics on here about our faith and our beliefs. :)
