Heh. I'd forgotten about those. The other day I was trying to think of what the "wise" men were called in those books. I'm afraid I've forgotten all the details, though I do remember the basic story.

It is the Illidranii if you mean the people with the special mental abilities, healing arts, and the ability to summon and locate others. They have other skills as well. They are very interesting characters -- except I have never resolved why one of them is associated with the Dark Guild -- I did get an answer from my friend but I still do not understand a good reason for it. Of course he would know and it is sort of like we need to learn from history, even the bad parts. I would not want to post someone's name or thoughts in a public forum.
My favorite still remains the Joining ceremony or the Selana Taelisir.
It is such a large and unique world it is hard to remember it all, even for a fanatic like me :)
Actually that is why I am reading the books again. I seem to be enjoying them even more.

Righto, that was the people I was thinking of, just couldn't come up with the name. I'm glad you're enjoying reading through the books again. I remember the general gist of things, but as far as names go, I'm sure I'd have to brush up on everything. Quite a few parts are still vivid though.

I agree -- the names and all the old history is hard to remember. I won't even let Lisa take the books to read them, I have to refer to them for spelling or to check facts every now and then when talking about the books.
It is a vast an truly original world and dare I say, complicated. Of course I have stayed involved in the story and
I do remember most of the main things such as the Illidranii since that is one of the main themes of the book. I must have read some of the old history a bit quickly because I find things this time that I did not take much note of before. Yes I do have a special interest and it is nice to read them again.

Aren't those the books you were talking about like a year ago? I remember you guys taling about them I think. There are so many books that you guys mention that I want to read. And I would if I had money to buy them. And I could drive.
My sister, who has a job, usually spends a good amount of her paycheck on make-up, and clothes and such, and saves the rest of it. I told my dad that when I get a job(whenever that is), that besides tythe, offereing, and savings, the extra spending money of paycheck will mostly go to buying books. It seems I inherited the reading habit from him. I never knew that before. But we were talking one night, and he told me that if he could, he would read all day long and do nothing else. BUt he doesn't because it's not physically healthy for you. It's the same as being a couch potato in front of the TV. Lol. I wish I could just read all day long.
I'm read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn for an AP summer assignment. It's an interesting book so far. It's kind of sad, though. Some of the stuff the young boys talk about like robbing stagecoaches or killing. And they say it like it's not a bad thing. They don't reallly realize what it is they're really talking about. Taking someone's life. It's sad.

Yes it is JJ, we had many discussions about the books -- I do wish you could read them -- it would be interesting
to see what you think !
We buy a lot of books -- we both love to read and we usually loan them to Lisa so we get a lot our of the money spent.

Boys never take things seriously when they are young so I wouldn't worry about that too much. I also have read Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer and more of Twain's writings and he captures the boy's mind very well. When I was growing up, all I could think about was cops and robbers, cowboys and indians etc. At that age, one doesn't think about it as taking a life, but as heroic, it honestly is part of being a boy. With age comes maturity (or at least that is how it is supposed to be) and you start to realize what it actually means.
When I was a boy, every stick I found was a gun or a sword :)

That's true I suppose. I guess, being a girl, yI don't quite understnd. Even though I was quite the tomboy growing up, I never played cops and robbers or anything. Though, my friends and I often went on adventures, just not ones involving killing people.
I thin one of the funniest parts I've read so far in the book is one they first start their group of "robbers" and they're trying to decide what ransom is. It's so funny.

I loved to play cowboys and Indians when I was a kid -- we moved so much I was always imagining things and making up stories and imaginary friends. I am still a dreamer at times.

I am and always will be, a dreamer. Though, I don't know if I ever dreamed of indians. Cowboys, yes. When I was young I always enjoyed pretending I was a secret agent or something. Or something like Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. I also liked to pretend to be Padme or Princess Leia from Star Wars. What little girl doesn't dream of that?
And the inevitable, having grown up with a mom who was a Trekkie, my sister and I used to pretend we were officers of Starfleet on board the Enterprise. She used to have these really cool shirts, once was ligt purple and the other dark purple, and the both had the same symbols as the officer's uniforms in Next Gen. that they used to communicate. So, we always had fun with those pretending to use them to talk to eachother.
But I have to say that my favorite to play was always the secret agent mixed with Lara Croft. I was such the tomboy when I was little. I adored the heroines of movies that could always kick butt and bring down her opponents in a matter of minutes. :P
