This is the Randomimity topic, yes. You post here, no. Unless you slip me a small fortune under the table as it were. And I don't know where your beans are. Go ride your bike!

Well, I started this topic to keep track of a lot of the various things I do. It seems I've been slacking on the updates for a while though. A lot has happened, so I think it's time to start doing this more again.
Also, I figured this was a good time for a signature update. It's a simple little quote that's pretty cool to think about. No matter how dark the world gets, if you hold up even a small candle, it will still put off light. In fact, the absolute darkness makes the effect of the candle even more noticeable. I think that's cool to think about since we are as a light in a dark place. No matter how dark this world gets, God's light will still shine through us if we are following Him. Something to think about.
As far as things that I've been doing go.... Where to start? Well, I posted about my trip to Chicago(and the weeks leading up to that) in a different topic, which makes up for almost a month of the time that I haven't posted in this topic.
Since then, a lot of my time has been spent trying not to be on my broken foot too much. That's given me a lot of time to think and pray and some time to do some reading. One of the weeks I spent going to the school my mom teaches at. They were doing some standardized testing, and the law says that they have to have someone from the outside come in and monitor each of the classrooms that are testing. So I volunteered to go do that for the week(not in my mom's classroom since that would've been a conflict of interests).
I've hardly done any work on any of my websites. I have been developing the plots of some of the book ideas I have. I have several, but the main three that I've been thinking about recently are the original one that I let you read part of a while back with Leonidas, one that involves a mercenary having to infiltrate an organization of thieves and murderers, and the one that involves 8 dragons. I also had a new idea. That one might end up going more in a sci-fi direction so it's different from the others, but I'll go into that in a different post sometime(remind me if I forget). I've also been trying to gather various illustrations that I've heard used in sermons or other places to make a Biblical point. I've been making a list as I think of them using just enough detail for me to remember them and then trying to write them out in more detail when I have time. Eventually, I'm going to use them to write devotionals.
During this time, I've also read some of the Chronicles of Narnia and 300 or so pages of LotR. A couple days ago, I also started reading The Purpose Driven Life. I've heard/seen it recommended by several people, and my grandparents gave it to me one Christmas(though I forgot, and didn't even know I had it until I found it earlier this week). It is divided into 40 days, so I'm not very far into it, but I think it will have some good stuff in it. I can't help but think there's a reason I've found it after all this time. If any of you have read it, I wouldn't mind some feedback or anything. Or if you were considering reading it, now would be a good time to grab it :)
I know Les requested an update on my dragon book, but right now I think I"m gonna go grab a snack. Hopefully that will come in a post later tonight though :) Until then, maybe this has been a long enough post to keep you satisfied lol.

Alright, here it goes. I'm kinda tired right now, but I don't want to go to sleep. So I'm going to try to give some more details of my dragon book. I don't really remember how much I had figured out when I first posted about it, so I'm just going to pretend I haven't explained it yet.
I'm thinking of either calling it Seven Dragons or The 8th Dragon(but that one might give away too much).
At the start, the main character is sitting with a group of other men each boasting of the good deeds they've recently done. Getting carried away, the main character(I'll call him Bob for now since I don't have a name yet) suddenly exclaims that he is going to outdo everyone else by completely ridding the world of evil. The other men laugh wildly at him. Trying to save face(he's a very proud man), he explains that he is going to set out in search of the seven dragons that legend says are the root of all the evil in the world. Hoping they will forget about it in the next few days, he declares that he will set out on his adventure in one week. During the next week though, the mockery only gets worse. He soon realizes that the only way to protect his ego is to actually go on the quest. Just before he leaves, a peasant(possibly an old man) offers him his help. I've got a bit of their conversation sketched out vaguely in my mind, but for now I'll just say Bob refuses his help thinking the peasant would only slow him down if anything.
I'm thinking of having him take a horse with him as a companion. Not a talking horse or anything, just an ordinary horse. However, he would talk to the horse sometimes just to have someone to talk to. Maybe the horse would even be smart enough to understand most of what he says, I don't know yet.
In any case, he heads out on his journey without the help of the peasant. Along this journey, he will encounter seven dragons(not all at once though). Each one will be a different color and will basically be the physical embodiment of one of the seven deadly sins. They will also have the ability to "morph" into a human form. Many of the times he encounters these dragons, he will not even know they are dragons at first because they are not in their dragon form. That way, he will be off guard when they tempt him. To defeat each dragon, he must overcome whatever temptations they use on him to get him to succumb to their particular sin. I haven't completely decided on the order yet, but I will try to make it so that each confrontation is escalating in difficulty. The last two most likely will be wrath and then pride.
Once he defeats the final dragon, he realizes that the rest of the world is still going on just as it was before. He thought he had defeated evil, but now he sees it is still there. That makes him angry that he did all of that for nothing. Suddenly the dragons reappear, led by Wrath and Pride(the two he was exhibiting the most at the time). Afraid he runs down the nearest road hoping to find someone that can help him. In the distance, he sees a man and calls out to him asking for help. As he gets closer, he realizes it is the same man that offered to help him in the beginning. He was a bit disappointed but didn't have anywhere else to turn. Running up to the man, he begged him to help him in any way he could. Silently, the man nods in agreement and walks past him. Then he beckons Bob to follow. Bob isn't too convinced yet, but he decides this man is confident enough that he must have something up his sleeve. Then as the dragons are starting to get close, the man suddenly transforms into a great white dragon. This 8th dragon is blindingly white, larger than any of the other dragons, and appears extremely fierce. It is so magnificent and terrible that Bob is convinced this dragon will surely be able to defeat all seven of the other dragons. The seven dragons that had been about to land falter for a moment. Then as if deciding that together they should be stronger than this one great dragon, they begin moving forward again. In a kind voice, the dragon tells Bob to stay there before he begins walking towards the other dragons.
Haha, I went way over the maximum post length....

<continued>
Forgetting about Bob, the dragons turn all their attention to the brilliantly white dragon and dive in to attack it. They attack it savagely but the white dragon makes no attempt to fight back. The dragons continue clawing and biting, ripping and beating, kicking and lashing with their tails. Still the great white dragon doesn't fight back. Just when Bob is so horrified and sickened by the sight that he is afraid he will have to turn away(but at the same time he can't look away), The great white dragon lets out a roar so loud that the earth shakes. Suddenly, there is a blinding flash of light. Bob can't tell where the light came from, it is just everywhere at once. At first he sees all different colors swirling around. Then only the purest white. Then, just as suddenly as the flash had come, it stopped. He was standing once again halfway up the hill that the dragons had been on top of... only there weren't any dragons up there. There is only a large stone that hadn't been there before. Going up to look at it, he sees that something is carved on the top of the stone.
The first thing he notices is the shape of a beautiful white dragon set into the stone so perfectly that it looks like it was part of the same stone. Then what had looked like only a blood stain from farther away he notices is now writing. There are words written on the stone. They look like they were written in blood, but they won't rub off, they too are a part of the stone.
I haven't figured out the exact wording yet, but the basic message will be that even now the 7 dragons have returned to other parts of the world. It's not yet their time to be truly defeated. However, the great white dragon has granted Bob and anyone else who will accept it the power to resist the dragons. The dragons will have no power over them, in fact, they will have power over the dragons. Bob must now return to his hometown and tell everyone about what happened.
I'm not sure how long after that the story will go, but that's pretty much what I've got planned out so far. It's always interesting putting thoughts like that into words for the first time like this for the first time.
Anyway, I'm gonna go to sleep now. It seems like there was something else I wanted to say at the end of this, but I'm tire now and don't remember lol. Maybe I'll remember it tomorrow. If not, I don't think it was very important anyway. G'nite and have a good Sunday :)

Any comments? Questions? Has anyone even read those posts yet? I feel kinda weird making so many posts in a row(even if they are all pretty long)lol.
Anyway, I remembered the other thing I meant to mention last night. Each of the 7 dragons are going to be a different color, and probably different sizes and characteristics. Some of them seem to have colors that just naturally fit. Some seem to have certain characteristics that would seem to fit. I've kind of got a pretty good idea of what I'm thinking I want to do, but I am curious to see what other people would think. So, I was going to ask you guys to take this list of the 7 deadly sins and pick a color for each and then pick some characteristics that you think would go well for the dragon and human forms of each sin(for example: large, small, fat, skinny, muscular, long, stubby, etc). I want to see how similar the lists are and how close they are to mine.
Wrath
Envy
Pride
Gluttony
Lust
Greed
Sloth

Well clearly I am very far behind here -- what surprises -- I get to hear about the dragon book and Silas is back.
Please feel free to post 20 times in a row if you want to. We are all responsible here and if we have something to say there is no need to wait. I wonder how many times I have posted in a row -- now that is a scary thought. I have never understood why double posting is a problem IF the poster has something to say. If they do not 1 post is a waste of time.
First -- I am very interested in your concept for the dragon book, second oh my the things you writers have to face. I have never thought of assigning a color or shape to the 7 deadly sins. I agree with Himura, that requires serious consideration. I will think of that through the day.
I am happy that your foot is getting better, are you still on crutches ?
I am glad you are reading the Chronicles of Narnis again -- me too.
The Purpose Driven Life -- I do know about that book -- I have heard some rather mixed opinions, I will be very interested in hearing what you think Oogy.
I just read it all again -- and I just want to have the WHOLE dragon book to read -- it is very interesting.
I am wondering how you could call it 7 dragons when the 8th is the important thing. Thanks for the update.
I love the new signature -- I do feel the world is getting very very dark lately. It is good to keep in mind that
a single candle can make all the difference. I fear too many are just getting used to the dark.
