Hehe, I don't know that this song really compares to In Christ Alone... that song is still a favorite of mine. Hopefully though there will soon be plenty more songs.
I've got the lyrics to a few others already written, just need to work out the music for them. I'll probably post the lyrics to those songs as I start working on the music for each of them, and then once I've got it all down, I should be able to do a recording at church with each song too.

and a heart full of God.

Songs have such great meaning, they can lift you up and bring you to tears. They minister in such a wonderful way. They are like people, I do not compare them to each other I love/like them as individuals. In
Christ Alone is Oogy's song here, HR even calls it that now : ) It must be very satisfying to be able to write songs and now to play them and sing them. You always surprise me with your talents Oogy.
I look forward to all that you are willing to share.

That's a good way to look at it... it is really hard to compare songs when songs can be really powerful in completely different ways.
It is an amazing feeling to be able to put music to these lyrics... Guitar is something I've wanted to learn for a long time, and I am really glad I finally decided to dedicate my time to that.
I actually have a second song that I came up with some really simple music for today(which I think fits the song well). This song is more fast paced, you don't really say the words really fast, but there's not much gap between the lines at all.
This one is called "In Every Way"
In every way
Take hold of me
And let Your presence
Reign in this place
Humble me
And lift my eyes
To see Your glory
This time is Yours
And not my own
Take control
And lead me on
Consume me
Replace me
Build me up
Break me down
Break my heart
Heal my wounds
Kindle my flame
Quench my thirst
Create a hunger
Feed my soul
Clear my mind
Fill my thoughts
Break me
Oh, consecrate me
In every way
Take hold of me
And let Your presence
Reign in this place
Humble me
And lift my eyes
To see Your glory
<after this point, gradually slowing down>
In every way
Take hold of me
And let Your presence
Reign in this place
Humble me
And lift my eyes
To see Your glory
<much slower now for the last part>
In every way
Take hold of me
Hopefully soon I'll be able to record this song as well.

Oogy these songs are so good, do you think there is any chance someone might steal them, people we do not know could read this.
I am so pleased to read this one early on the Lord's Day, I can almost here it the way you posted that. I think it is very good and I truly love this part:
This time is Yours
And not my own
Take control
And lead me on
That is going to be in my head today, I will be hearing and thinking about it. That is what happens when certain words or part of a song really touches me. Thank you Oogy. This is a wonderful song.
I would imagine that the people at your church will find this a favorite.
What that part says is what we all want, the Lord in control and human nature out of the way.
Thank you Oogy

I had considered not posting them on here because someone might "steal" them, but then I decided that if someone is singing these songs somewhere, that means the message in them is being heard. And that's really what matters. I doubt I personally will ever be able to make the songs I write widespread, so if someone else takes hold of them, it might not be such a bad thing(though I would prefer they ask me or at least let me know first).
A scripture that comes to mind is in Phil. chapter 1, where Paul basically says that through all that has happened to him, many people had started preaching the gospel. Some did it with a pure heart, some did it out of envy, but either way, the message is still getting out there and that is the important part.
I'm glad you like the song :) I can't tell you how many times I've played through it in the past 24 hours.
Can't wait to be able to record it at church.

If you do record that song I would appreciate it so much if I could have a copy, I will pay postage for the CD what ever it takes. That second song really really did bless me.
I think it is special Oogy.
You have a very good attitude but I would like for you to have the control of your songs.

Tomorrow night, I'm singing the first song in front of my church. Definitely a bit intimidating since I don't normally sing much around other people and the only person that's heard me play my guitar is my dad. But it's also really exciting. Plus I think the fact that I wrote the song makes both the fear and excitement greater. I'm really looking forward to it though.
Anyway, think I'm gonna take a shower and then practice some more.

That is really special Oogy, to be able to share like that with your church and to let the songs that you have written minister to people. I do wish we could hear it. this is just the beginning. Your songs are special.
I would be terrified but as you say it is very exciting. I just know it will go well, I will be saying a prayer for you at church time tonight.
