It is good to know that you can now leave comments.
A tent that does not leak is a good thing indeed. It sounds like you are ready for your big adventure !

*sigh* I just got an email saying that Collide Festival has been canceled until next year. Due to all the rain in the area over the past couple of weeks, the grounds were completely soaked. They said they didn't think it would be possible to get anything set up and then it would also cause safety problems.
I have to say, this is the most disappointing thing that's happened in a while. I was getting really excited about it and had kind of molded my plans around it. I'm not really sure what to do now lol. Maybe I can start trying to get an apartment earlier or something.

It was a 3 day Christian music festival with about 35 bands that were going to be there. They were expecting around 50,000 people to come. I was going to be doing volunteer work. The main job they had me down for was going to be stage security.
I've only been to one concert before, and didn't even get to stay for most of it or enjoy the bit I did see because at the time my knee and back were hurting so much I ended up going and laying down in the van I had come in. So I was looking forward to this being the first concert I'd really seen.
I also rarely see people my age coming together to praise the Lord. I really don't see people my age that much anyway, but when I do most of them don't live Christian lives. My church doesn't really have a youth group. I dunno, I mean I was excited about going to a concert, and about being able to meet a bunch of groups because of the job I was going to be doing, but the biggest thing I was looking forward to was seeing all those people coming together and praising the Lord. I rarely get to see even a really small group my age coming together like that, I can't even describe how helpful I think it would have been for me to be a part of something like this.

Oh NO Oogy, I am so sorry. I know you were really looking forward to it. It would have been wonderful for you to have the opportunity to experience that. What a shame.
I did not realize that your church did not have much youth. I can see why you were looking forward to it so much. I would imagine a lot of people are disappointed.
I had thought about it when hearing about all of the rain in that area. I can see the problem though, they have to be concerned about the safety of a lot of people.

Spirit West Coast has (had) two venues this year. But I would guess that ol' Cali is a bit far for you Oogy.

Yeah, someone else actually mentioned that to me as well. I can't really afford to go anywhere long distance though. This one was just a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive, so I could get there without much trouble. Much farther than that, and it's out of my price range. Plus, I was going to bring my own food to this one, so there wouldn't be anymore cost there than if I was just eating at home. Probably wouldn't be able to bring my own food out to
California lol.
On the bright side, I think I'm going to Durant on Tuesday to get an application for my apartment. Also, last night, I was talking to one of my friends. He was telling me about the place his wife works and he thought that, if I applied there, I would have a really good shot at getting a job. So, that's definitely a place to look into since I'll need a job to pay for my apartment, food, and college. Who knows, maybe by this time next month I'll be in an apartment in Durant, have a job, and be on track to start back to school in the Fall.
Oh yeah, I changed my signature again. It's pretty simple, but I like it. There will be storms in life and it's easy to get caught up focusing on them, but we have to be careful or we will miss the beautiful things in life. When there is a storm in your life, it generally means there is also a rainbow to be seen, but you have to look for it. Without storms there would be no rainbows.

Good for you Oogy, and I do like the new signature -- a good thought and I am glad to see that you are doing exactly what you say, Looking for the Rainbows. I like that.
Is this job something you would enjoy, I hope you get it and can start getting on track for school.
You will have a computer and internet access when you move to Durant won't you ?
