I do enjoy math although it can be difficult at times. Beau and Logan used to fence although I do not think that they have time for it now. You could see if there is anyplace near you that teaches fencing and if there was, you could try it yourself.

I like to read and of course there is fencing. I don't read as much as I used to since there are fewer books that interest me now and I have to be careful what I read because I can get easily influenced by books. The books I prefer to read are fantasy books but these new authors have included too much unclean content which prevents me from reading them.

I've never seen anywhere that teaches fencing. Not just around here, I've never seen one anywhere. I always thought it was just something they taught in prep schools and in Europe lol... guess that shows my ignorance.

The closest thing I can relate to that is that I took karate for a while and was a couple months from starting to train with weapons and stuff(mostly nunchucks and a staff, but our sensei also had scye[not sure if that's spelled right] and a katana). But that was about the time my health went steeply downhill so I didn't even get to do that.

Obviously, I don't know much about fencing at all. How do you tell who wins?

In fencing, you have to weapons called foils which are essentially pointed weapons. They have a rubber tip at the end and you get a point by poking the person you are fencing in the target area which is mainly your chest and back. Who gets the point is determined by right of way which basically tells who attacked first.

Oogy I t do not think fencing classes are very common, there is no place around here that offers that sort of thing, we have a 4 year college close and several others very near here --- no fencing. I had never heard of it
being offered until I met Logan, Beau and Silas. I was quite amazed. Apparently it is not available in the western part of Oklahoma either -- I remember Logan and Beau talking about putting on a demonstration for their church group.

I will let someone that is a fencer explain the scoring or knowing who wins.

Even living in France it was more of a private thing, we had friends named the Lacours and their son was a fencer. He belonged to a private fencing club and invited our family to matches ( it that is the right way to say
it ) I became very interested and since I was in France during my Junior year past college age, I got the opportunity to watch quite a bit of it. It is really quite fascinating to watch -- to me it is so graceful and
elegant. The only chance I have ever had here is the Olympics, the US does have a fencing team so perhaps some of the Ivy League schools feature it or something.

Do you have any interest in resuming your karate Oogy ?

Himura if it was available I think I am a little old to start something like that now -- but thank you for saying
that :)

I am going to start the post back up in the book section -- I have a series of books, Christian Fantasy to
talk about.

That sounds like it could be interesting. Too bad I can't watch it, I don't think we get ESPN.

I would be interested in starting back in karate, but there's nowhere around here to learn it anymore. When I took it, it was just a guy giving free lessons in a church that was letting us use their gym. He stopped when I and a couple other students(there weren't many to begin with) stopped being able to come.

We have Direct T.V ( satellite ) because we are down in a little valley and even with an antennae we had very poor reception. We do not go out much at all and we both enjoy the news options and I truly enjoy Animal Planet and the Discovery Channels -- HR and I both like the History Channel and sometimes the Travel Channel has good things. I do like to watch some of the extreme sports and of course .

We watch the PBR like most people follow football or basketball. Last week they had a very nice segment about Cowboy Church. It was very very good. My favorite bull rider, Wiley Peterson was the speaker. He is a Native American from Nappa( not sure of the spelling ) Idaho. They conduct it every Sunday morning in the arena wherever bull riding is that week. They have prayer meetings before each round of bull riding. so many of the cowboys go to their knee and thank the Lord after each ride. I really enjoy the PBR.

What shows do you like on t.V -- it seems that there are fewer and fewer shows that are enjoyable on the network stations.

We have Dish Network satellite. We don't really get anything with an antennae either... just because there's not really anything to get with it. Now and then we can get one channel lol.

We don't get Animal Planet because it only comes with a larger package of channels I think and there's not enough that we would watch in that package to justify paying more money. I have seen nearly every show they have on the Discovery and History channel lol. I almost always have the tv on one of those going in the background if I'm not listening to music(and sometimes if I am lol..). There's not many shows I watch on the major networks. I like to watch House, sometimes American Idol, I've been watching Heroes a lot when it's on, and my dad likes Survivor, so I watch that with him sometimes... that's pretty much it for the major networks lol. The USA network has a couple of good shows like Monk, but they only make like 4 new ones at a time and they haven't had any new ones in a while.

I'd be pretty happy even if all we had was Discovery and History channels though. Those channels help me satisfy my curiosity about just about everything.

I don't really follow any sports.

I just finished watching Survivor -- oh yes -- I like that one.

I agree, the Discovery channels and History are great -- there is enough there to keep anyone busy. I like
Animal Planet for of the beautiful photography and the nature specials. Animal Planet is a Discovery Channel.

We used to have Dishnet but they dropped the channel that carried the PBR !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well that was that -- we switched.

So you watch Survivor too? I want Yau Man(I think that's how they spell it) to win, so I was getting mad when they were talking like they were gonna vote him off tonight lol.

He is my pick as well but I think that everyone knowing that he has the immunity idol is going to be a big problem for him. He is also so likeable that no one is going to want to be against him in the final two. He
has been honest with people and no one is really mad at him. That is one bad thing about the show -- it is hard for the really nice sorts to make it to the end. I think that he is really smart and he may find a way. It seems that Earl m a y stay loyal -- and I heard that there is going to be a great deal of controversy at the end of this season --- so who knows.

I think they have done a really good job this season of changing things up. I was highly amused after the merge when they went back to what they thought was the luxury beach and it was all gone ! those guys had far too easy in the beginning.
