Thoughts about My Sims

To begin with -- I am very disappointed with this game, I wanted to like it, I had been truly looking forward to it, I was hoping for something that would keep my attention and be a daily pleasure like AC ! I am sad to say it was not to be. we even went four places to find it the day it came out.

I did not expect it to be like AC, just a game that I could get into and enjoy in a relaxing sort of way. Sadly I have found this game rather boring and the worst is the Yellow Brick Wall that comes up every time you go in or out of a door -- or do just about anything -- even go into the forrest -- it happens every where you go or anything you do. I find it disrupptive and annoying.

Other than that it is building -- plain and simple -- not much more. Even that at times that is frustrating.

I did enjoy building an ice cream counter this morning. Usually the essence you have to add ruins the piece but this time it fit in fairly well. The ice cream parlor is my favorite structure so far but I am looking forward to working on the library !

Opening the woods was the best part so far -- it is a nice area but still nothing new to do -- just the same build structures and then build what the residents want.

Aha ! I got the pick axe today and of course that meant new areas to explore -- that part I actually like -- I love to explore ! This is area is pretty interesting -- and I can see what looks like the ocean but I can not get to it "yet" but I can eventually, sadly it will be back to the building now -- I just got a 3 star town and no more fun places to explore until I get a 4 star town -- I must labor away in my workshop building silly things and sticking cherry blossoms and such on them until I get four stars. A new and interesting person did show up at the hotel wanting to move into town so I agreed and now I have to build her a shop -- that is better than furniture though ! I need a change -- the last house I built was pretty weird. Oh well tomorrow PH is released and it will be back to the world of sane gaming as soon as the game makes it to our area !

Poor poor My Sims. I think it is essential here that a postive comment is made or other wise the poor software may get a insecurity complex.

My Sims, you have great potential. Yes the yellow wall of death pops up to often and their are a number of latency issues within you but you are still quite entertaining to me. Your towns are bright and colourful, your characters are interesting and well programmed, your items are interesting to interact with and there is so much space to work with. Your design mode could have been re-tooled just a little bit but overall it has provided me and Ruth with hours of conversation and fun. I can't remember off the top of my head the debates we have had over the design and colour of items. I like the fact that you allow us to build outside of templates so that we are not limited to the building designs within the game. The collecting of essences can be quite frustrating sometimes but also fun.

Yes you are not perfect but I see great potential there. My rating of 8.5 still stands because I think you are a valid attempt for a new I.P and Wii and I find you fun to play. I just look forward to the newly improved My Sims 2 with certain issues rectified.

1. Cache the loading to Wii memory.

You are quite a big game My Sims with a lot of loading. The problem here is I don't think your developers paid enough attention to your loading needs. Next time, tell them to work the game so that info can be cached to a storage device like a SD card or hopefully a new Wii HD so that you don't have to work your socks off at reloading items that you have already loaded.

2. Tell them not to make you so linear.

Some people would like their own flower gardens and a bit of freedom in planting trees. Folks have been playing Animal Crossing for years and they enjoy the freedom of a not so linear game.

3. A little more character interaction.

It would be nice if your town characters would interact a little more. All they seem to do most of the time is give you tasks and tell you about aspects of the game.

4. A Wi-Fi mode would also be nice.

The chance to visit other towns and your see other creations would be great. Also the ability to send pictures of your town via Wii Connect 24 would be a nice option to have.

I still give you a 8.5 out of 10 because I think you are a valid attempt at something new but with a little tweaking here and there you could be great.

I am so happy to see this post. Clearly the Yellow Wall of Doom game has found an eloquent champion !

I quite clearly do not like this game and I read your review on w-o-n Jonah and it was so good that even though I have the game and do not like it ------ the review made me want to rush and buy the game !!!! Now that is hard to do, are you sure we are playing the same game ! : ) : )

Be warned people with $50.00 dollars -- this game is bad !

I am glad I bought the game because it is far more fun talking about it than it is playing it. I have loved the discussions.

Two opinions from close friends that generally like the same games, consider yourselves well informed.

See the Wii does bring families together.
