I've worked out a new system that really only took about half an hour to make that will allow for completely automated RSS Feeds. Meaning of course that the RSS will be updated the instant that new announcements are made. I also made posting announcements a little easier for the Administration. Moderators will also have the ability to post news and everything will be updated accordingly.

I'd really like some feedback on what everyone things of what I mentioned in my last update, with progressive user-levels. I'm seriously thinking of incorporating it, but if anyone has anything against it, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks and have fun with your RSS!

I think it is fine if that is what you want to do. I don't pay any attention to post numbers now -- but later when we have more members it might be a way to keep up with who is a committed member --- and for those that are faithful to Lilbro it is a nice recognition.

I do think that what should be the most important thing -- is quality post --- it is rather silly to post something just to run up your post numbers -- a short post can be excellent -- just as long as you have something to say.

I think we have good content here --- and I do hope it stays that way.

We should all be very proud of Lilbro.net ---- I know I am --- and do our best to keep it the excellent community that it is.

Yes indeed. I've always been a big hater of systems that rank you with you post number. This would be a whole different value that would rank you on how often you visit Lilbro.net.

Basically what would happen is once a day I would run a script that would check to see who had been active in the last 24 hours. The people who had would recieve an extra "Power Point" (or a better name if you can think of one). People who haven't been active for the past 24 hours would remain with the amount that they have.

That is an interesting concept -- sounds good.

How often you visit ---- I was thinking about that -- does it matter if you post or just how often you "visit" ? Would a person that just stops by -- and reads a post or two receive the same recognition as someone that actually post.

It makes me no difference as I do both -- I was just wondering -- it sounds somewhat like monitoring the traffic on a site if it makes no difference if you post.

If you think it is good for Lilbro --- I am all for it.

I'll try to explain it as best I can...

What would Happen in the Website:
Every 24 hours a script would be run that would check a time that all the users have in their profile. The "Last Active Time". If that time is less than 24 hours ago, they would recieve 1 point towards their account.

These "Points" would than be checked every 24 hours to see how many each user has, if they have over a certain amount, than they get a rank increase. There would be many more ranks than there are right now. Users would be able to progress up through 10 or more ranks if they are consistently visiting the site.

What the user (you) does:
Once every 24 hours, the user would have to visit the site to recieve a point. If they don't, than they won't recieve anymore points than they already have. However, if they do visit every 24 hours, their "Points" would increase by 1.

The User would not have to do anything at all except to visit the site, but most likely they wouldn't visit it unless they had some reason, such as posting a message....

You would still have the number of Posts you have made on the forum which might eventually be counted (along with these "points") towards seeing who our "Top Members" are. But that's a ways in the future, right now I would just want to make the Power Point system. It might make it more interesting and get people to come back more consistently.

And eventually, as your user-level increases, than you may be able to access certain things that others can't....

That is what I understood --- thank you for the explanation -- sounds good to me. I am here everyday --- either way :) I can't imagine not visiting Lilbro each day.

Good morning

Well, it sound great. Besides, once we have a ton of people, it would be nice to have a way of telling who has been around for a long time. Of course I know this means more work for you, Beau, but if you want to spend the time.... I'm all for it!
